Mutual Aid to Jonas Ridge for Ice Storm Cleanup
December 25, 2009
On Christmas Day Icard Township Fire / Rescue assisted the Jonas Ridge area by helping
clear roadways from fallen trees as result of an Ice Storm. Firefighters responded to the
area before noon and remained in the area for the most of the day. Various other
agencies also provided assistance for cleanup. According to several News Media Outlets
many people were still without power on December 28, 2009.

MVA w/ Injuries Icard Rhodhiss Rd.
December  4, 2009
Around 0641 HRS Icard Township Fire / Rescue responded to a reported MVA with
injuries. The first arriving unit confirmed a 2 vehicle MVA with injuries and a fluid leak.
First Responders assisted with patient care and contained a fluid leak. 3 Patients were
transported by Burke County EMS.

MVA I-40 W @ 119 MM
January 1, 2009
At approximately 0242 HRS Icard Township Fire / Rescue responded to I-40 for a
reported MVA. First arriving units found a 2 vehicle MVA with heavy damage to both
vehicles. One of the vehicles involved in the accident was a disabled and unoccupied
vehicle sitting in the emergency lane on the Interstate.

Outbuilding Fire - Icard Rhodhiss Rd.
1-8-2010
At approximately 1301 HRS Icard Township Fire / Rescue responded to a reported
structure fire. The first arriving unit confirmed a working outbuilding fire and requested
a second alarm. Firefighters extinguished an outbuilding as well as an automobile that
was being stored in the structure. Burke County React assisted with traffic control.

Structure Fire - Mutual Aid to Long View Fire
1-10-2010
At 0513 HRS Icard Township Fire / Rescue received a dispatched for Automatic Mutual
Aid with Long View Fire Department for a smell of smoke in a residence. The first
arriving Long View unit advised light smoke was coming from the eaves of the
structure and requested a second alarm. An interior search was performed and fire
was found in the ceiling and attic area. Crews gained control of the fire in around 30
minutes. Firefighters efforts were hampered due to the temperature being around 12
degrees and causing problems with SCBA's and Handlines.

Structure Fire - Henry Fork Park - Mutual Aid to Long View Fire
1-11-2010
At 1119 HRS Icard Township Fire / Rescue responded to a Mutual Aid Request from
Long View Fire for a reported structure fire at Henry Fork Park. L-25 was reporting
heavy black smoke visible from U.S. 70 in Long View. It took firefighters around 25
minutes to gain control of the fire. According to a news release from Hickory Fire
Department a malfunctioning heater in the concession and bathroom is what caused
the fire. Hickory E-3 stood by at Long View Fire Department for coverage during the
incident.

Electrical Fire
1-11-2010
At approximately 2126 HRS Icard Township Fire / Rescue responded to an electrical fire
in an attic. Firefighters contained a small fire in the attic of the structure with the help of
a Thermal Imaging Camera. Firefighters assisted with traffic control also.

Traffic Accident
1-22-2010
At approximately 1752 HRS Icard Township Fire / Rescue responded to a reported
Traffic Accident in the area of Johnson Bridge Rd. & Old NC 10. The first arriving units
found a 2 vehicle - head on collision. Firefighters contained a fluid leak, assisted with
medical treatment and assisted with traffic control.

Structure Fire - Tailored Foam, Long View
1-24-2010
At approximately 1804 HRS Icard Township Fire / Rescue responded automatic mutual
aid to Long View for a reported structure fire. The first arriving Long View unit found a
26,000 SF commercial structure, well involved. It took over an hour for crews to gain
control of the fire. Haz - Mat Crews responded due to chemical storage at the facility. It
took several hours to overhaul the structure. Catawba County and Burke County Fire
Marshal's Office, NCSBI and the ATF assisted with investigations.

Fire Grant Awarded to Icard Township Fire / Rescue
1-29-2010
Icard Township Fire / Rescue received a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security. This grant was given in the first round of distributions from the "
AFG",
Assistance to Firefighters Grant this year. The amount awarded was $39,349. The grant
money will be used to replace fire hoses and nozzles. This is the 6th time ITFR has
